Migrant Rights Bus Tour

The "No Papers, No Fear" Migrant Rights Bus Tour has kicked off in Arizona with a series of direct actions challenging Arizona's unjust and destructive immigration policy and racist sherriff Joe Arpaio. They're making their way to Colorado next week, and Jobs with Justice will be joining local immigrant rights groups to welcome them with a rally at the State Capitol on Tuesday, July 31st, and 11 AM. Colorado's SB90, the grandfather of Arizona's infamous SB1070 and model for anti-immigrant laws across the country, was passed at the State Capitol in 2006, and both local community members and activists from the bus tour will be saying that six years of this unjust law is six years too many. For more on the link between SB90 and SB1070, see this flyer put together by our allies at the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition. The rally will be followed by a community lunch and celebration at noon at El Centro Humanitario (2260 California).
After we've declared our opposition to anti-immigrant policies and Colorado and across the country, we'll be gathering on Wednesday, August 1st, at 11 AM for a teach-in and discussion of immigration policy and immigrant rights organizing. With stories from the courageous undocumented activists and leaders from the bus and smaller discussions of the intersections between the struggles for justice in immigration, labor, women's rights, queer rights, and student/youth activism, we'll be building the skills and relationships we'll need for the movement locally.
